Description
Scallion Bread is a flavorful and soft bread infused with the fresh taste of scallions. Perfect as a side dish or a snack!
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup scallions, chopped (green and white parts)
1 large egg, beaten
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a loaf pan.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
3. In another bowl, mix the buttermilk, melted butter, and beaten egg.
4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
5. Fold in the chopped scallions gently.
6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
8. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
This bread is best served warm. You can add cheese or herbs for extra flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
